The Karawang Police are following up on cases of sexual violence experienced by a 76-year-old woman in the Cibuaya District, Karawang Regency, West Java.
Head of Public Relations of the Karawang Police, Ipda Cep Wildan, said that his party had received a report of a sexual violence case against an elderly woman with the initials R (76) which was allegedly carried out by a young man with the initials D (25).
The report was submitted by the victim's family to the Karawang Police after previously the case circulated on a number of social media.
In accordance with initial information, the victim is suspected of having immoral acts committed by a young man with the initials D (25) who is a neighbor.
The incident allegedly occurred on Friday (28/11) at around 23.00 WIB, in Krajan Hamlet, Cibuaya District, Karawang.
Before making the report, a 60-second video circulated showing the police together with village officials digging up information from the victim.
In the video, the victim expresses her confession in Sundanese, she is forced to serve the alleged perpetrator's lecherous lust.
After receiving the report, the police immediately followed up on the victim's family report by carrying out the investigation process according to the procedure.
"We have received an official report from the victim's family, the Karawang Police Satreskrim is conducting an in-depth investigation, gathering witness statements, and conducting medical examinations on the victim," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 5.
He ensured that the Karawang Police handled the case professionally and prioritized protection by providing maximum assistance to victims.
"We are also coordinating with health services, psychologists and protection units for women and children, given the condition of the elderly victim," he said.
Karawang Police Investigators are currently searching for the reported party for further questioning.
