Prabowo Perkasa's Electability In The Survey, Gerindra Is Still Shy: Not Yet Discussing The 2024 Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - Gerindra Party is still shy about thrusting Prabowo Subianto's name to run in the 2024 presidential election. In fact, the survey results of several institutions put the Minister of Defense as the highest as a presidential candidate.

"So far Mr. Prabowo in our internals has not discussed even though there is an undercurrent of wanting to advance again", said Chairman of Gerindra party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, at parliament complex Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 25.

In addition, Dasco said, his party has not yet discussed whether to nominate its own cadres in the presidential election. "There could be some alternatives, not yet discussed", he said.

According to Dasco, the results of the existing survey are still very dynamic. Therefore, he did not want to clarify the results of the survey, especially the latest released Puspoll Indonesia.

"Whatever the results of the survey conducted Puspoll (Center for Socio-Political Studies) this adds to the spirit of Gerindra cadres at the very bottom to consolidate with the party," he explained.

Nevertheless, the vice-chairman of the House was grateful because the electability of the chairman is generally still very good.

"Although Mr. Prabowo has never campaigned to increase electability and we both know he has been working only to carry out the tasks given to him as a form of responsibility to be Minister of Defense", said Dasco.

Previously, from several simulations that presented the name of presidential candidate in the Puspoll Indonesia survey, Prabowo Subianto's name always ranked highest.

From the simulation of 22 names, Prabowo Subianto got 20.9 percent which is the first place.

"So out of the 22 names we tested, the highest electability was in the name of Mr. Prabowo Subianto 20.9 percent who said he would vote for Prabowo if the presidential election was held during the survey held 20-29 April 2021", said Puspoll Indonesia Executive Director, Muslimin Tanja.
