Ministry Of Transportation Will Investigate 12 Companies Allegedly 'Scary' Floods And Longsor North Sumatra

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Forestry will investigate the 'roof' of flash floods and landslides in Sumatra. Currently, the Ministry of Forestry's law enforcement team has found indications of violations by 12 companies in North Sumatra.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni in a working meeting with Commission IV of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Thursday, December 4.

"The Ministry of Forestry will immediately do two important things that deserve to be underlined. First, the forestry Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation into legal subjects who are indicated to have contributed to the occurrence of landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra," said Raja Juli.

The Minister of Forestry said that currently, Gakkum Kehutanan had found indications of violations in 12 locations of legal subjects, and 12 companies in North Sumatra. He ensured that law enforcement on the 12 legal subjects would be carried out soon.

"Our Gakkum is in the field and God willing, we will immediately report it to Commission IV and also to the public the results of approximately 12 locations or legal subjects," he said.

Raja Juli mengatakan, sesuai arahan Presiden Prabowo Subianto, Kemenhut sudah melakukan pencabutan terhadap 18 PBPH seluas 526.114 hektare pada 3 Februari 2025.

"As a follow-up to controlling forest areas ordered by the President, we, the Ministry of Forestry, after obtaining approval from the President, will again revoke the permits of around 20 PBPHs that work badly, approximately 750 thousand hectares throughout Indonesia including in 3 affected provinces," said Raja Juli.

"The name of the company, the exact area I cannot report at this time because I have to get approval from President Prabowo Subianto first," continued the PSI politician.

Raja Juli menyatakan, Kemenhut akan melakukan rasionalisasi PBPH dan memoratorium izin pemanfaatan hutan.

"This is part of the recommendation that I read today, that we will rationalize PBPH and carry out a moratorium on new permits for the use of forest plants and natural forests," he concluded.
