Commission I Of The House Of Representatives Asks Komdigi To Move Quickly To Restore Telecommunication Network Problems In Aceh-Sumatra

JAKARTA - Member of Commission I DPR RI By Soleh, asked the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) to move quickly in ensuring the recovery of telecommunications networks that were disrupted due to flash floods and landslides in the Aceh-Sumatra region.

According to him, field conditions require the government to be present swiftly, especially in ensuring access to communication for the community and disaster management officers. Soleh assessed that the telecommunications network is a vital infrastructure in emergency situations and must be a priority to be restored immediately.

"Komdigi must accelerate the recovery of telecommunications networks. Coordination with all cellular operators must be carried out intensively so that services return to normal as soon as possible," said Soleh to reporters, Tuesday, December 2.

By Soleh emphasized that the existence of telecommunications networks in disaster-affected areas is not only the needs of the community, but is also a determining factor in the success of emergency response operations.

"In the midst of a disaster, communication is key. Without a telecommunications network, disaster management work will be hampered, ranging from distribution of aid, evacuation of victims, to coordination between agencies. This should not be allowed to last too long," he said.

The PKB legislator also encouraged Komdigi together with telecommunication operators to take emergency technical steps, including the placement of BTS mobile devices, providing generators for sites affected by power outages, as well as accelerating infrastructure improvements damaged by floods.

By Soleh, he hopes that telecommunication access can recover soon so that people can reconnect and the disaster management process can run more effectively.

"Recovery must be carried out in stages but quickly, by ensuring the safety of officers in the field remains a priority," he concluded.
