Total Land Access, Bobby Nasution Distributes Aid Via Air To Isolated Areas In Central Tapanuli

North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution led the distribution of aid by air to a number of isolated areas in Central Tapanuli after flash floods and landslides cut off land access.

Bobby said the step was taken to ensure that assistance reached locations where vehicles could not be reached due to severe road damage in several sub-districts affected.

The North Sumatra Provincial Government, he said, continues to accelerate the distribution of aid for residents affected by the disaster in Central Tapanuli and Sibolga.

The North Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that flash floods hit seven sub-districts in Tapteng, namely Pandan, Sarudik, Badiri, Kolang, Tukka, Lumut, and Pinangsori.

The landslides occurred in six sub-districts, namely Badiri, Sibabangun, Lumut, Sarudik, Tapian Nauli, and Tukka, so that several villages were difficult for the ground team to access.

"The isolated area is a top priority," said Bobby, quoted from Antara, Sunday, November 30.

Logistics and medicine stocks are sufficient even though the distribution is disrupted by access. He explained that assistance to isolated areas is sent by air, while areas that can still be passed by vehicles are supplied by land.

In addition to road damage, disruptions to communication and electricity networks also hamper data collection on urgent needs at these isolated points.

Bobby asked Telkom and PLN to accelerate network recovery so that disaster management coordination runs more effectively.

"We need a recovery network so that information on the needs of residents can be obtained immediately," he said, emphasizing the importance of access to communication in the field.

Air assistance has been sent to Tukka and Lumut sub-districts, two areas that were severely affected and difficult to reach by the evacuation team.

According to Bobby, the air team also carried out visual mapping to record the coordinates of isolated settlements and prepare for further aid delivery.

He ensured that the North Sumatra Provincial Government would continue to distribute logistics so that all affected residents in Central Tapanuli and Sibolga received equal assistance.
