The joint SAR team managed to evacuate 1 captain and 1 crew member (ABK) of the KM Kerapu Putih fishing boat that sank in the waters of Parai Beach, Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel).

The evacuation was carried out on Saturday, November 29, including carrying a fishing boat that sank because it hit a rock during the tidal wave.

"Based on the results of the deepening, the ship, which was headed by Alek (32), initially anchored at 05.00 WIB. However, the large waves made the anchor position shift and was unable to withstand the flow. The ship was dragged and hit a rock," said Head of Polairud Polres Bangka AKP Arif Fabila in Sungailiat, Sunday, confiscated by Antara.

He said the shipwreck in Parai Beach waters or coordinates 1.48'31.3"S 106°07'41.9"E.

The captain who was rescued in the name of Alek (32), and the crew named Andi Mulyadi.

"We together with related elements move quickly to ensure the ship can be evacuated and the situation remains safe," he said.

He explained that KM Kerapu Putih was also successfully evacuated and then taken to the Kantung Water Pier for repairs.

"I remind all fishermen to remain aware of weather conditions in fishing areas, tidal waves that are usually accompanied by strong winds can occur at any time," he said.

He said all fishing boats must be ensured to be equipped with sailing safety equipment, such as life jackets, buoys, and navigation lights.
