Five Victims Of Banjarnegara Landslide Found On The Last Day Of Search

The joint SAR team found five victims who died in a landslide disaster in Pandanarum Village, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday, which is the last day of search and rescue operations in the region.

Head of the Semarang SAR Office Budiono said the five victims found on the tenth day of the search were in sector A.

"From the statements of his relatives, the five victims are suspected of being one family," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 25.

According to him, the five victims were suspected of trying to save themselves before being buried by landslides.

With the discovery of the five victims, he said, the total number of victims who had been found and evacuated was 17 people.

He said that there were still 11 victims who had not been found whose position was estimated to be in sector C.

He explained that there are challenges faced in the search in sector C with a very wide area and avalanche depth which is estimated to reach 20 meters.

"With these conditions, it is difficult for us to detect the presence of victims," he said.

With various considerations, the search and rescue operation for landslides in Pandanarum Village was officially stopped.

He expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the support of stakeholders in this search and rescue process.
