The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Karawang Regency, West Java has begun to dismantle illegal buildings along the West Karawang Interchange Road which is an access to the West Karawang Toll Gate.
"The forced demolition will be carried out, because previously we have submitted a warning letter asking them to carry out their own demolition," said Head of the Karawang Satpol PP Basuki Rachmat in Karawang, Monday, November 24, as reported by ANTARA.
He conveyed that the time given to the owners of illegal buildings to carry out the demolition itself had run out.
For this reason, the Karawang Satpol PP will intervene to forcibly demolish hundreds of illegal buildings that stand along the access to the West Karawang Toll Gate.
"The control (of the demolition) of illegal buildings and street vendors (street vendors along the access to the West Karawang Toll Gate is part of the efforts to organize the city," he said.
In accordance with the initial data collection, he said, there were 179 illegal buildings and street vendors that stood along the access to the West Karawang Toll Gate, starting from the Citarum Bridge to the West Karawang Toll Gate.
Basuki said that hundreds of illegal building owners and street vendors had been notified regarding the control plan, namely by providing a warning letter, so that they could dismantle their own buildings themselves.
A total of 179 illegal buildings and street vendors were demolished because they were built on buildings belonging to the road. This violates the provisions of Article 32 of Regional Regulation Number 10 of 2020 concerning the prohibition of building in buildings belonging to roads, green lanes, parks, and public facilities.
In addition, the activities of street vendors in unspecified locations also violate Article 28 paragraph (1) letter a of the Karawang Regional Regulation Number 10 of 2020
The move to demolish the illegal buildings is also part of efforts to maintain public order, public peace, and K3, so that the West Karawang strategic area remains orderly, safe, and comfortable for all road users.
