JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Jakarta is formulating a social media restriction plan as a measure to anticipate negative influences on minors.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the formulation of the regulation was carried out with a number of institutions such as the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI).
"So now it's being investigated. Yesterday when we received KPAI and also related institutions, I really wanted to discuss this, of course, it had to be deep. It had to be substantial and deeply able to overcome the existing problems," said Pramono Wednesday, November 19.
Not wanting to just formulate, Pramono added that he wanted social media restrictions to be carried out, one of which was by looking at the trend of limiting social media rules in other countries.
"Because now the trend in developed countries is starting to have age restrictions that can see social media. Because the social media is so open. But once again, we will study it more deeply, and for that later, we will definitely convey it," he explained.
The discourse on limiting social media itself emerged after the tragedy of the explosion at the Jakarta State Senior High School (SMAN) 72 on Friday, November 7.
