Prabowo Stops Student Welcome Tradition: Let Them Learn!

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto asked regional heads not to mobilize students to welcome themselves. This was conveyed by Prabowo when inaugurating the Kabanaran Bridge which connects the Kulon Progo and Bantul areas, the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Wednesday, November 19.

Prabowo was impressed by the students' warm welcome to him, but he wanted the students to go to school better.

In fact, Prabowo assigned Cabinet Secretary Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya to send a letter to the regional head containing a ban on welcoming students.

"I was impressed but it's a pity that they stood for a long time, so I asked the cabinet secretary to make a letter to all regents and mayors. If I visit to work, I beg school children not to welcome me on the side of the road, let them at their respective schools," said Prabowo.

Prabowo said, if students want to see themselves, it is enough to watch it through the television screen at their respective schools.

"I understand and if it's not too hot or not too long they wait for me too, it doesn't really matter. I'm happy every time I see the face of the people's faces, I also increase my spirits, I get younger because of their energy," he said.

"But I feel sorry for them for waiting a long time in the hot sun. I'm worried about reducing their school hours," Prabowo continued.

Prabowo said that he also did not have sufficient opportunities to greet all students due to limited time.

"Sometimes my convoy is fast and I don't have time to stand to welcome them. Yes, I ask the regents to be then regents throughout Indonesia, mayors, if I come there is no need for school children to be deployed," concluded Prabowo.
