Four Climbers Missing On Mount Gamalama

TERNATE - Basarnas Ternate Search and Rescue Office, North Maluku stated, four climbers of Mount Gamalama Ternate reported missing contact.

Head of Basarnas (National Search and Relief Agency) Ternate, Muhamad Arafah, said that his party had sent a rescue team to the location by using Rescue Car to conduct search operations.

According to him, his team was parachuted to the location of the disappearance of the four climbers on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at around 02:10 WIT, after receiving a report from Samsudin, the parents of one of the victims.

According to Samsudin, the four people who lost contact came from Kasturian Ternate Village including Febriansyah (16 years old), Amir, Ilham, and Randi.

Chronology of the disappearance of the four climbers around May 22, 2021, at 07.00 Wit, the victim named Febriansyah and his three colleagues climbed Mount Gamalama.

The elements involved in the search were Basarnas personnel, Police, and residents of Kasturian Village.

Previously, Basarnas Ternate together with a joint team managed to find one of the climbers in a safe condition named Agung (19 years old), a resident of Sangaji Village, Ternate City.

Agung moved down to the village after camp at the top of Gamalama, because his leg was sprained so that he could not continue the journey to the top of the mountain.

Agung's condition that difficulty walking was conveyed by Basri that one of their colleagues to Basarnas team so that the team tried to help the evacuation.
