Hamas Rejects UN Resolution On Sending International Troops To Gaza

JAKARTA - Hamas officials said they rejected the UN resolution issued on Monday, November 18. The resolution calls for the deployment of international troops in Gaza.

According to Hamas, the resolution failed to respect the "prosecution and rights" of the Palestinian people.

"This resolution does not meet the demands and political and humanitarian rights of our Palestinian people," Hamas said in a statement, Tuesday, November 18, quoted by AFP.

The statement also condemned the formation of international forces whose "missions include the denomination of weapons" of Palestinian independence groups in Gaza.

"This resolution imposes international guardianship in the Gaza Strip, which is rejected by our people, troops, and their constituent groups," the statement continued.

The UN Security Council (DK) on Monday has previously voted to support the resolution of the US draft that strengthens US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan, which includes the deployment of international troops and the path to the Palestinian state in the future.

There are 13 UN DK votes supporting the resolution, which the US has touted after the vote as 'historic and constructive,' while only Russia and China have abstained but no veto.
