Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik Sudaryati Deyang explained that the Rp20 trillion budget prepared by BPI Danantara is to finance chicken breeders throughout Indonesia in order to support the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG).
"So, the Rp20 trillion budget is to finance the breeders, not the Danantara who build their own livestock," Nanik said in an official statement quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 18.
He explained that the project was designed as an integrated ecosystem that would involve State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) upstream and small downstream farms, which aim to maintain the stability of the supply and price of eggs and chickens.
According to Nanik, Danantara will finance laying hens and broilers to ensure that the need for eggs and chicken meat for the MBG program can be met. Thus, this is expected to prevent a price spike that causes inflation.
Currently, Danantara is reviewing this plan in-depth, before deciding on project implementation.
According to the Danantara Chief Operating Officer (COO), Dony Oskaria, infrastructure, location, and development schedules are still in the study stage.
Previously, BPI Danantara supported the development of national chicken farms as part of efforts to strengthen animal protein supplies for the MBG Program.

Dony Oskaria explained that the livestock development scheme is being thoroughly studied and will be regulated through a Joint Decree (SKB) from the relevant ministries.
"This is especially for food security, especially with MBG, we need a lot of protein," said Dony.
According to him, this step is an important part in supporting national food security, especially to meet the needs of animal protein in the community through increasing sustainable and efficient chicken production.
