2 Victims Of Pandanarum Banjarnegara Landslide Found Dead, Search Still Continues

BANJARNEGARA - Joint SAR officers evacuated two victims who died from landslides that hit Pandanarum Village, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, on Sunday, November 16 afternoon.

"While two victims have died," said Head of the Semarang SAR Office, Budiono, quoted from Antara, Monday, November 17.

The first victim was found injured on Sunday afternoon and had received medical treatment. However, the victim was reported dead on Monday morning. Meanwhile, another victim was found on Monday morning.

Budiono said the joint SAR team was still searching for other victims suspected of being buried by landslides at the scene.

In addition to searching, officers also evacuated residents who had previously fled to hilly areas around the landslide site.

Officers are currently still trying to open access roads to villages covered by landslide material. This condition makes it difficult for heavy equipment to reach the location point.

"The condition of the terrain is quite difficult because the landslide material is thick and the weather is still unstable," he said.

In addition, officers also continue to monitor the surrounding conditions to anticipate further landslides. The landslide in Pandanarum Village is thought to have been triggered by high rainfall that flushed the hilly area for several hours.
