JAKARTA - The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) encourages the development of more competitive Balinese cattle farming through strengthening nursery, improving animal health services, and collaboration with local governments.
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture Ali Jamil emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to ensuring the development of Bali cattle farms is increasingly directed and competitive.
"The Balinese cow is the nation's genetic wealth that we must protect. The Ministry of Agriculture will strengthen cooperation with the Bali Provincial Government," Ali said in a statement, Monday, quoted by Antara.
He conveyed that the Ministry of Agriculture and the Bali Provincial Government are strengthening collaboration in the development of Bali cattle farms as well as improving animal health on the Island of the Gods.
"Bali has an important role as a quality Bali nursery and cow center," he said.
He conveyed that the strengthening of collaboration in the development of the Bali cattle farm was carried out at a meeting between the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster in Denpasar.
Ali said the meeting highlighted the Ministry of Agriculture's request for land grants for the Unggul Livestock and Livestock feed Greenry Center (BPTU-HPT) covering an area of 102 hectares in Jembrana and 1,500 m2 in Denpasar, as well as 6.7 hectares of land for Denpasar Veterinary Center for animal health services.
Meanwhile, Bali Governor Wayan Koster welcomed the move positively and emphasized that he was ready to provide support for the Bali cattle nursery program as well as improving animal health services at the regional level.
"In principle, we agree on the preservation of the Balinese cattle," said Koster.
