Pramono EMPHASIZED That No One Should Prevent The Construction Of Houses Of Worship In Jakarta

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that his government guarantees religious freedom and worship activities of all religions for the citizens of the capital city. Thus, Pramono emphasized that his staff must not hinder the process of building any house of worship if all conditions have been met.

This was conveyed by Pramono when inaugurating the renovation of the Tanjung Priok Indonesian Christian Huria Church (HKI), North Jakarta.

"I have repeatedly said, if I become governor, then I will be governor for all religions. And I will consistently do that," Pramono said in his remarks, Sunday, November 16.

Pramono emphasized that he had given strict directions to his subordinates and the Religious Communication Forum (FKUB), so that they would no longer delay the licensing process for the construction of houses of worship. According to him, the practice of detaining permits for administrative or non-administrative reasons should not occur in Jakarta.

"So with FKUB, the Religious Communication Forum, I have conveyed it, it is no longer permissible if the requirements are complete, the construction of houses of worship, any places of worship, being detained, is no longer allowed," he said.

He even asked the relevant bureau in the provincial government to oversee the process in detail. Pramono called this step part of his promise to become a just leader for all religious communities.

'So I like this tell my bureau to really pay attention to it. Because for me to be a leader for all religions, all people are more important and must be fair," he said.

In the inauguration of the renovation of the HKI Church, Pramono hopes that the presence of the house of worship can strengthen services to congregations in the Tanjung Priok area, including workers who are active in port and industrial areas.

"Hopefully with the renovation and then the inauguration of the HKI church in Tanjung Priok, the service of the people will be better," said Pramono.

Pramono also encouraged inter-religious harmony to be maintained. He said he always tried to be present in various religious activities as a form of support for the diversity of Jakarta.

"My personal hope is that the life of harmony between people in Jakarta will be better. So almost all religious events, all my religions come. Almost all of my religions come. But most of these are usually HKBP, HKI, the main thing is the argument," concluded Pramono.

For information, the HKI Tanjung Priok Church is the only HKI church in North Jakarta. The church renovation was carried out due to the growth of the congregation. It was recorded that the HKI Tanjung Priok congregation was 1,500 people. In 2023, HKI Tanjung Priok received a grant of Rp. 100 million from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
