South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro paid attention to the issue of two teachers of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) SMA Negeri 1 North Luwu Regency who were dishonorably dismissed for handling cases of alleged corruption that helped fulfill the salaries of 10 honorary teachers at local schools.

"I took steps. We sent a team, both from the National Police Propam, South Sulawesi Police Propam Division. Then, the Deputy Chief of Investigation (Investigation) of the National Police, the Director of Special Criminal Investigations to take a closer look at this case," he said in Makassar as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 13.

This follows two former Principals and Treasurers of SMA Negeri 1 North Luwu Rasnal and Abdul Muis who were sanctioned for Disrespectful Dismissal (PTDH) by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government for corruption cases on charges of illegal levies of Rp. 20,000 per student to cover the payment of honorary salaries.

The good intention of joint ventures of Rp. 20,000 per student per month was also agreed upon by the School Committee and collected Rp. 16 million. The student's voluntary income has been going on since 2018, 2019 and 2020 to pay a salary of 10 honorariums, including his salary of 10 months has not been paid since 2017.

These efforts were made by both of them as an effort to fulfill their rights, but were considered wrong. The reason is that these 10 honorary teachers cannot be paid from school finances, because they are not included in the Dapodik system which is the main requirement for disbursing School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds.

This case was reported by certain NGOs to the North Luwu Police, then followed up by investigators until they proceeded at the Lutra District Attorney. Later, both of them were tried at the Makassar Corruption Court. However, the panel of judges argued otherwise, for humanitarian factors they were acquitted on December 15, 2022.

However, the public prosecutor filed an appeal at the Supreme Court (MA) for the decision and was accepted, thus canceling the Makassar Corruption Court decision. Both were found guilty, sentenced to 1 year and 2 months in prison, a fine of Rp. 50 million.

According to the Supreme Court's decision number: 4999 K/Pid.Sus/2023 and Number 4265 K/Pid.Sus/2023, both were forced to serve a period of detention. After being released, both of them received another test by being dishonorably dismissed as ASN teachers by the Governor of South Sulawesi. Abdul Muis on October 4, 2025 and Rasnal on August 21, 2025.

At the time of dismissal of the two ASN teachers ahead of their retirement, the regional police chief stated that the decision came from the Regional Government. However, his party is still investigating whether there was any suspicion of an error in handling his case at the North Luwu Police level.

After this issue went viral and became public attention, continued Djuhandhani, quick steps were taken by coordinating with the Police Propam Division, Bareskrim Polri, in this case the Police Headquarters Wasidik Bureau related to its handling, including examining investigators who handled the case.

"This is to get assistance to the extent to which the handling used to be carried out, whether there are things that violate norms or ethics carried out by investigators. In principle, we continue to be transparent in the investigation process or investigations at the South Sulawesi Regional Police," he said.

The South Sulawesi Police Chief conveyed, according to the direction, President Prabowo Subianto's order, that every law enforcement officer who handles cases from investigations or examinations should not be sharp downwards bluntly and upwards. Although in law enforcement it does not necessarily only fulfill elements of people in law.

Previously, President Prabowo gave full rehabilitation to the two after meeting at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport on the case, including restoring his rights and restoring his good name and continuing to carry out his duties as an ASN teacher at a local school until retiring.
