MEDAN - Suspected bribes in the illegal administration of COVID-19 vaccine to several community groups in Medan, North Sumatra, are threatened with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion.

Chief of Police Sumut Irjen RZ Panca Putra Simanjuntak said the recipient of bribes is suspected of violating Article 12 letters a and b or Article 5 paragraph 2 or Article 11 of the Corruption Eradication Act.

"In addition, bribers are suspected of violating Article 5 paragraph 1 letters a and b or Article 13 of Law No. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 on amendments to Law No. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes," Panca was quoted as saying by Antara, Friday, May 21.

In this case, North Sumatra Police assigned four suspects in the alleged bribery case in the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination activities to several community groups in Medan.

The suspect was SW (40) medan polonia property agent (briber), dr. IW (45) ASN / Doctor at Rutan Klas I Medan (recipient of bribes), KS (47) ASN / Doctor at the Health Office of Sumut (recipient of bribes) and SH is asn Kemenkum Ham Sumut.

The incident occurred Tuesday, May 18 at 15.00 WIB, suspect SW as the organizer of carrying out vaccination activities that are not appropriate for the allocation to community groups in the housing complex Jati Residence Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, District Medan Perjuangan, Medan City.

The vaccinated participants paid a vaccine fee and injection service of Rp250,000 per person to SW in cash or transfer. Furthermore, the money was handed over to IW amounting to Rp220,000 per person. The remaining Rp30,000 becomes a fee for SW.
