JAKARTA - The police have implemented an open-close system at the location of the landslide that stockpiles the cross- Pakenjeng-Bungbulang province, precisely in Depok Village, Pakenjeng District, Garut Regency, West Java.

The Head of the Pakenjeng Police, Iptu Muslih Hidayat, said that temporarily it was only applied to open and close or alternate from both directions, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles on the southern route of Garut.

"From 02.45 WIB, the open and close system can be passed," said Muslih in Garut, Wednesday, as reported by Antara.

He said heavy rains that had often fallen in the southern region of Garut caused landslide landslides to close the main road of Pakenjeng-Bungbulang, Tuesday, November 11 afternoon.

The landslide material, he said, buried the 50-meter provincial road with a soil thickness of about 3-4 meters which made it quite difficult for officers to clean it.

"For approximately 11 hours we did the dredging of landslide material, thank God now the flow can be crossed," he said.

He conveyed that the landslide material was still being cleaned from the road so that vehicles could pass safely, comfortably, and normally.

Although vehicles can be crossed, he said, the community, especially motorists crossing the southern route of Pakenjeng-Bungbulang, should always be vigilant because the potential for landslides is still happening.

"That's right, stay alert in the field," he said.

He added that the southern route is an area prone to landslides, especially during the rainy season, which has occurred several landslides.

The landslide, he said, often hit the road, disrupting the flow of vehicle traffic on the route, even so his party together with other agencies and the community are on standby to deal with it in the event of a landslide.

"The weather has recently been quite extreme and the potential for landslides is still high," he said.
