Prabowo Meets PM Albanese To Discuss Strengthening RI-Australia Cooperation

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Australian Prime Minister (PM) Anthony Albanese at Kirribilli House, Sydney, Wednesday 12 November. This meeting became an important part of President Prabowo's state visit to Australia which aims to strengthen Indonesia-Australia's cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

Arriving at the location, Prabowo was greeted directly by Albanese in the front yard of Kirribilli House, one of the official residences of the Australian prime minister. In a warm atmosphere, Prabowo signed a state guest book as a form of diplomatic respect between the two countries.

After the welcoming procession, the two leaders walked side by side to the sitting room to hold a one-on-one meeting. The meeting was closed, but the atmosphere was reported to be familiar and productive.

This moment is an important opportunity for both countries to deepen bilateral relations in various sectors, especially the economy, development, relations between communities, defense and security, and maritime affairs.

In addition to strengthening the strategic partnership foundation that has existed for more than seven decades, Prabowo and Albanese also highlight the stability of the Indo-Pacific region and strengthening the capacity of strategic industries at bilateral levels.

As is known, Indonesia and Australia's relations were previously at a comprehensive partnership based on the Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership on April 5, 2005. The partnership was later upgraded to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) on August 31, 2018 during the official visit of the Australian prime minister to Indonesia.

This meeting is expected to be a new momentum to strengthen Indonesia-Australia cooperation as a strategic partner who plays an important role in maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
