Prabowo Inaugurates IPB Chancellor Prof. Arif Satria As Head Of BRIN

JAKARTA - Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Prof. Arif Satria as Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and Prof. Amarulla Octavian as his deputy, at the State Palace, Jakarta.

Arif Satria, who currently serves as Chancellor of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), officially replaces Admiral Tri Handoko based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 123/P of 2025 concerning Dismissal and Appointment of Head and Deputy Head of BRIN.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral TNI (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Amarulah Oktavian is an official Deputy Head of BRIN whose status has now been extended through the inauguration.

The stipulation was signed by President Prabowo in Jakarta on November 10, 2025.

The inauguration began with the reading of the Presidential Decree by the Deputy for Apparatus Administration of the Ministry of State Secretariat, followed by the pronunciation of the oath of office and the signing of the minutes of the inauguration.

"By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill my obligations as well as possible and fairly as possible, uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible according to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and serve the homeland and nation," said Arif and Amarulah guided by the President.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani, along with a number of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, other high-ranking state officials.

Prof. Dr. Arif Satria is the Chancellor of IPB who served for the second period (2023-2028). The man who was born on September 17, 1971 is a Permanent Professor at the Faculty of Human Ecology IPB and is known as a political ecology expert whose thoughts are often referred to in the formulation of national policies.

In addition to leading the IPB, Arif Satria is also active in various important roles at the national level, including serving as General Chair of the Indonesian Muslim Cendekiawan Association (ICMI) for the period 2021-2026, having been the General Chair of the Indonesian Chancellor Forum (FRI), and recently elected as Deputy Chair of the KPK Selection Committee in 2024.

His managerial career also includes the position of President Commissioner of PTPN Holding from 2018 to 2022.
