The Menteng Metro Police are still investigating a young man with the initials MSR (21) who stole the iPhone 14 Pro belonging to a visitor to the Grand Indonesia mall.

From the results of the examination, the police found two cellphones in the perpetrator's bag, one of which was the iPhone 14 Pro belonging to the victim AKD (26), a resident of North Jakarta.

"The victim has made a report on the incident to the Menteng Metro Police," said Menteng Metro Police Chief Kompol Reza Rahadian when confirmed, Sunday, October 9, 2025.

In addition, the police also confiscated the Realme Note 70 cellphone which was recognized by the perpetrators as the result of theft from other locations in the Kemang area, South Jakarta.

The police have also examined a number of witnesses, including Grand Indonesia security officers who helped with the arrests.

According to the police chief, the incident began when the victim was walking with his colleague in the East Mall Grand Indonesia area, Menteng.

When he was about to move to West Mall, the victim was told by the witness that someone took his cellphone.

"The victim immediately shouted 'thief!', and the security officers along with visitors immediately chased and secured the perpetrator. After being examined, two cellphones (mobile phones) were found in the perpetrator's bag, including the victim's," he said.

According to Reza, the perpetrator admitted his actions and is currently undergoing further investigation at the Menteng Metro Police.

"We are still investigating this case to find out whether the perpetrators were also involved in other thefts in the Jakarta area," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Menteng Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to apprehend a young man aged MSR (21) because he was caught stealing a Phone 14 pro belonging to a visitor to the Grand Indonesia shopping center.

The man from Batam, was secured by visitors and related security officers.

"Our officers have arrested the perpetrators of the theft of cellphones at Grand Indonesia," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro when confirmed, Sunday, November 9, 2025.

The police chief appreciated the quick role of the community and the security officers of Grand Indonesia in assisting the security process of the perpetrators.
