Was Terrorized By Mysterious Drones, Belgian Liege Airport Returns To Operation

JAKARTA - Liege Airport in Belgium continues its flight after being temporarily suspended due to the appearance of a mysterious drone.

Air traffic control service Skeyes said it had received reports of drone sightings above the airport.

"We have to take every report seriously," said Kurt Verwilligen, spokesman for the service.

Drones seen flying over airports in the capital Brussels and Liege, east of the country, on Tuesday forced diversions of many aircraft arriving and the cancellation of several departing planes.

Sightings of drones above airports and military bases have been a continuing problem in Belgium in recent days, and have caused major disruption across Europe in recent months.

Drones have forced temporary closures of airports in several countries, including Sweden, on Thursday.

Some officials blamed the incident on Russia's "hybrid war". Moscow denies any connection with the incident.

The Belgian government held an emergency meeting with key ministers and security chiefs on Thursday to discuss what the defense minister called coordinated attacks.
