JAKARTA - A woman with the initials RI had the heart to embezzle her brother-in-law's motorbike. The motorbike was then pawned to Burhanudin alias Simon in the Muara Angke area.

The victim reported the incident to the Sunda Kelapa Regional Police for criminal acts of fraud and/or embezzlement as referred to in Article 378 and Article 372 of the Criminal Code.

After an investigation was carried out, the perpetrator with the initials RI and the motorbike belonging to victim AR (32) was then secured.

"After the interrogation, Burhanudin admitted that he did not know that the vehicle was the result of a crime," said Head of the Sunda Kelapa Regional Police, AKP Hitler Napitupulu, Thursday, November 6.

The police chief further said that after the evidence was secured, the police facilitated the mediation process between the complainant and the reported party.

Mediation was carried out because the victim and the perpetrator still had a family relationship.

"On Tuesday (14 November) the two parties agreed to resolve the case amicably," he said.

Furthermore, the Sunda Kelapa Regional Police returned the motorbike belonging to the resident of Pademangan, North Jakarta. The motorbike was received directly by the victim AR.

"We directly handed over evidence of a motorbike to the owner, Abdul Rachman (32), a resident of West Pademangan, North Jakarta," he said.

Meanwhile, the Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief AKBP Martuasah appreciated the quick steps taken by the Sunda Kelapa Regional Police.

The police chief emphasized that he would continue to be committed to maintaining security and public order in his jurisdiction.

"We are trying to prioritize humane services to residents," he said.
