JAKARTA - Malaysia deployed an investigation team to investigate the cause of the appearance of a hole on Jalan Dato Ismail Hashim in Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas, Penang.
Chairman of the Infrastructure, Transportation and Digital Committee Penang, Zairil Khir Johari, said the hole had been temporarily closed while officers identified it.
"As an initial mitigation measure, plastic barriers have been installed, and traffic is diverted through Jalan Sungai Ara 1, Jalan Persiaran Relau, and Jalan Kedidi," he said in a statement Wednesday, November 5, quoted from Bernama.
Zairil added that the Pinang Island Water Supplies Agency and the Indah Water Consortium, the underground pipeline system authorities operating in the emergence of the hole, have now jumped for inspection.
The hole appeared in front of the National/Ara River Medium School (SMK) with a length of five meters, a width of 3.5 meters, and a depth of 1.9 meters.
