JAKARTA - PT Transjakarta plans to develop a new business-to-business (B2B)-based business model to expand the reach of service users and increase the number of passengers.

This scheme will complement the old model that has been focusing on business-to-consumer (B2C) or direct ticket sales to the public.

President Director of PT Transjakarta Welfizon Yuza explained that his party is preparing a direct ticket sales scheme to the company. That way, tickets are no longer sold individually, but in the form of corporate cooperation.

"We are still preparing, we will make business to business. So selling tickets is not directly to customers, but to corporations," Welfizon told reporters, Wednesday, November 5.

According to Welfizon, this B2B model is expected to be one way to encourage the growth of the number of Transjakarta users. He assessed that the scheme could be an efficient transportation solution for companies that have been providing transportation or parking allowances to their employees.

"Instead of corporations giving parking allowances, giving transport allowances, it's better to increase public transportation allowances. It can be a sustainability program, it can be included in the sustainability report," he said.

With this new model, the company is considered to be getting a double profit, namely cost efficiency and support for environmental sustainability programs.

Welfizon assessed that instead of providing individual allowances or renting special vehicles for employees, buying Transjakarta service packages for employees could be a cheaper and more effective option.

He also claims that with the current connectivity, Transjakarta is able to provide access to decent and integrated public transportation for workers in the capital city.

"Well, we'll see the potential, yes, if for example with the old pattern it will be expensive and also not very effective. So this pattern that we are trying to take advantage of, we enter the B2B segment. So it can increase the number of customers and later it can also become an additional revenue," he said.
