3 Days Missing, Youth In East Luwu Twin Falls Found Dead

The Joint SAR Team finally on Tuesday afternoon 4 November found the body of a young man named Ajung (25) who was declared missing on Sunday 2 November while recreation with his colleague at the Twin Falls, Taripa, Anggana District, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.

"The victim drowned in the twin waterfall, Taripa Village and was found by the Joint SAR team not far from the scene of the incident about 5 meters," said Head of Makassar Basarnas Operations Section Andi Sultan, quoted by Antara Wednesday, November 5.

The victim was reported missing drowning while playing in the water with his friend who was strongly suspected of jumping into the local waterfall on Sunday, November 2, 2025. The search process was carried out by the team for three days.

"We from the Basarnas rescue team together with the Joint SAR team conducted a search for three days. The search was carried out using a sweeping and diving method, until finally the victim was found today," he explained.

The victim's body was found floating around the local river 5 meters from the location where the victim had previously reportedly drowned.

After successfully evacuating, the victim's body was brought ashore and then handed over to the family, then immediately taken to the funeral home in Wajo Regency for burial and funeral procession.

Previously, it was reported that a young man from Wajo Regency and his friend visited the Kembar waterfall in the local village for recreation.

The victim then took a bath with his partner, then jumped from the waterfall. A moment later the victim did not come to the surface. The victim's colleague who saw this incident immediately reported the incident to the East Luwu BPBD and forwarded it to the Makassar Basarnas for the search process.

BPBD often asks visitors to tourist areas to be careful when they are recreational, especially in water areas because they are prone to accidents such as slipping or drowning.
