AHY Meets Prabowo At The Palace Asking For Instructions About Debt

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday, to ask for instructions and solutions related to the problem of the "Whoosh" high-speed train.

AHY stated that he wanted to ask President Prabowo for directions on a number of issues, including the issue of the Jakarta fast train debt "Bandung Badminton".

"Yes (about the fast train), of course we want to get a number of guidance from the President," AHY said while giving a statement at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday, November 3.

AHY explained that the discussion about the high-speed train included the debt of the Jakarta Fast Train (KCJB) project, Which was considered one of the national strategic projects, which various options wanted to be found.

The debt settlement in question includes restructuring the project managed by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).

"Of course we want to see various issues, including KCIC Jakarta-Bandung, there are problems that we must also find solutions with a number of options," said AHY.

On the previous occasion, Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi explained that the issue of the Jakarta fast train debt "Bandungmensh" has received President Prabowo's attention by summoning a number of ministers in a limited meeting.

President Prabowo, delivered through the Minister of State Secretary, ordered the ranks of the Red and White Cabinet to look for the best scheme in completing the debt of high-speed rail projects that can be pursued by the government.

In that meeting, the ministers who attended the meeting included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadive, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming as well as CEO of Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The problem of resolving the debt of the Jakarta Fast Train (KCJB) project is in the public spotlight considering that the debt burden from the project reached Rp116 trillion.

Regarding this issue, the Minister of Finance, Purbaya, told reporters that the government would not use the state budget to bear the burden of money laundering debt.

Purbaya explained that the debt from the project was not a burden on the state, but a burden on the SOEs involved in it.
