Basarnas Evacuates 24 Passengers Of The Sinking Ship In Morowali

PALU - The Palu Basarnas Office managed to evacuate 24 passengers of KM Cahaya Safari who drowned in Puungkoilu Waters, Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng).

"We have deployed a joint team led by personnel from the Morowali SAR Post," said Head of the Palu Basarnas Office, Muh Rizal, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 30.

It was reported that KM Cahaya Sarifa had a leak and drowned on Thursday at around 02.00 WITA and 24 passengers had time to save themselves on a raft in a fisherman's family.

He explained that his party received information around 04.03 WITA. Based on the report, his party deployed a joint SAR team around 05.20 WITA to conduct a search.

"The SAR team using KM Parigi conducted a search to the location where the ship sank. The evacuation process went smoothly and all the victims were safe," he said.

He said all the victims were then taken to the pier of the Fish Auction Place (TPI) in Matano Village, Menui Islands District, Morowali Regency, and arrived at around 09.45 WITA.

The victims were then handed over to each family, then the SAR operation was declared complete. The elements involved are the Morowali SAR Post, the Morowali Fisheries Service, the local community, and the shipping provider KM Cahaya Safari.

"The success of the SAR operation cannot be separated from teamwork. We appreciate their performance," said Rizal.

The names of the victims of the shipping accident in Morowali are Anas Alam (Nakhoda), Anas (KKM), as well as passengers on behalf of Rahman, Ridwan, Musran, Ardi, Husein Mansi, Bahtiar, Hendra, Nofal Firmanto, Andi, Moh Zulfikar, Mansur, Tengah Lahi, Jumaril, Ali, Firdaus Musita, Bonus Badu, Hamid, Iwanto, Imam, Aswar, Puji, and Umar.
