JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will follow up on reports of alleged corruption in the construction of UIN Jakarta student dormitories.

This was done after the anti-corruption commission received a public complaint related to alleged corruption that occurred in May 2019.

"The information we received is correct (complaint, red). The KPK ensures that it will follow up on every community report", KPK Spokesman Ali Fikri told reporters on Thursday, May 20.

However, the KPK will verify and review the report data. The goal is to ensure that allegations of corruption can be processed and in accordance with the authority of the KPK.

"Verification and review to find out whether the complaint is in accordance with the provisions of the applicable Law into the realm of corruption crimes and become the authority of the KPK", he said.

If from the results of verification and review, this alleged corruption in accordance with the authority of the anti-graft commission then the investigation will be done immediately. Of course, this will be done in accordance with the provisions of the applicable law.

"The KPK will certainly follow up in accordance with the provisions of applicable law", he said.

The reporting of the alleged corruption case was carried out by a party that declined to be named. According to the legal representative of this party, Gufroni, reporting was done on May 7, 2020.

Gufroni, who is the Chairman of Litigation Division of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Legal Aid Institute (LBH PP Muhammadiyah), said that his client submitted the report of alleged corruption in writing to the KPK by attaching written evidence and a list of witnesses who knew about the incident.

In the report of alleged corruption, it is mentioned the beginning of alleged corruption occurred in May 2019 when the rector of UN Syarif Hidayatullah Amany Lubis formed the Student Dormitory Development Committee UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in accordance with Rector Decree No. 475 dated May 13, 2019.

At that time, the committee immediately moved and raised funds to the state domain by sending letters and proposals to ministries, SOEs, and state institutions. From the results of the search, the funds were raised billions of rupiah which was then used to carry out the construction of student dormitories.

It's just that the student dormitory was never built. The campus actually built student dormitories for certain extra organizations that are not part of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
