Papuan Legislators Encourage Acceleration Of Infrastructure Development In New Autonomous Regions

JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the DPR RI from the South Papua electoral district, Indrajaya encourages the acceleration of infrastructure development in the new autonomy region (DOB), especially in South Papua Province. According to him, accelerating infrastructure is very important so that the government can run well.

Indrajaya revealed that during his review of the South Papua Governor's office in Merauke, development had reached 80.5 percent. He also received a report from the project implementer that all construction materials had arrived in Merauke and would be fully ready for use in early November.

With these developments, said Indrajaya, the construction of the South Papua Governor's Office is targeted to be 100 percent completed by December 13 or 14, 2025.

"Infrastructure development in new autonomous areas such as South Papua is very important to strengthen governance and public services. I encourage all parties to maintain commitment, both in terms of quality and completion time," said Indrajaya to reporters, Saturday, October 25.

The PKB legislator assessed that the presence of adequate government infrastructure is the key in accelerating the implementation of regional autonomy, while improving the welfare of people in the southern region of Papua.

"We want to see that South Papua is really ready to fully operate as a new province. The central government must ensure that budget support and technical assistance run optimally," he said.

Indrajaya also appreciated the hard work of workers and local governments who had shown significant progress in a relatively short time.

"I hope this project will be an example for other new autonomous regions in Papua," he concluded.
