JAKARTA - animal lover Lirabica reminded that the handling of livestock suspected of being exposed to radiation from Cesium-137 (Cs-137) radioactive substances is carried out carefully.

According to him, the act of destroying animals that have not been tested positive for radiation can cause panic and harm the local livestock sector.

He asked the local government and related institutions to prioritize medical action rather than mass destruction.

"Animals can be quarantined and treated. Do not immediately take cruel steps against animals, because the impact can be widespread on farmers and the local economy," said Lirabica.

The Miss Earth 2019 finalist emphasized the importance of clear public communication to avoid speculation.

"If this issue is not managed carefully, it could trigger panic in the livestock sector and reduce demand for meat and dairy products from the region," he added.

He also asked the Banten Provincial Government to carry out strict supervision and ensure mitigation measures are carried out according to procedures.

In addition, he reminded that Indonesia has legal rules related to animal protection that must be respected.

"I ask the Governor of Banten Andra Soni and the authorities to closely monitor this issue. Moreover, our President is known as an animal lover. We are ready to assist in the process of treating and sheltering animals if necessary," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Radionuclide Radiation Handling Task Force Cs-137 (Cesium-137), Bara Krishna Hasibuan, emphasized that there was no official evidence to suggest that livestock were exposed to radioactive substances in the Cikande industrial area, Serang, Banten.

"Until now, there have been no examination results showing radiation exposure to animals. We ask the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified information," said Bara.
