JAKARTA - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK) immediately summoned a shrimp pond company that dumped waste directly to Ketapang Tampes Beach, North Lombok Regency.
"We immediately called the pond company to check the UKL-UPL documents," said Acting Head of the NTB DLHK Ahmadi in Mataram, Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.
Ahmadi said the summons for the shrimp pond company was carried out next week after the NTB DLHK tested the waste sample first.
Documents of Environmental Monitoring Efforts and Environmental Management Efforts (UCL-UPL) are mandatory environmental documents for medium-scale businesses that have an impact on the environment.
The document contains environmental management and monitoring plans to minimize negative impacts and optimize positive impacts, as well as a risk-based business licensing requirement.
"If the company cannot or does not comply with what is promised in UKL-UPL, we will take action to give a warning," said Ahmadi.

Furthermore, he said that although the shrimp pond company had UKL-UPL documents, the NTB DLHK continued to deploy a team to test wastewater samples that were dumped into the sea.
The results of the waste sample test will be compared to the wastewater quality standard covering the maximum limit for chemical oxygen, suspended residue, and dissolved ammonia needs.
"Even though they have a UKL-UPL permit, we still go to the field to test water samples that are thrown into the sea," said Ahmadi.
Based on photos and videos that are circulating on social media, shrimp pond waste that is dumped into the sea looks blue toska. The waste flows through piles of rocks on the shoreline, so it looks like a waterfall.
