The Escape Of 3 Dead Prisoners From The Siak Detention Center: 2 Immediately Arrested, 1 Still At Large

The Siak Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Polres) together with the Siak Sector Police (Polsek), Riau, are hunting for a death row convict in a narcotics case named Epi Saputra who escaped from the Class IIB State Detention Center (Rutan) Siak Sri Indrapura.

Head of the Public Relations Division of the Riau Regional Police (Polda) Kombes Anom Caribbeanto said, initially there were three inmates who escaped from the Siak Detention Center in the early hours of Sunday.

"Two inmates on behalf of Satria Adi Putra and Safrudi were immediately arrested by officers shortly after running away," said Anom when confirmed in Pekanbaru, Antara, Sunday, October 19 evening.

Meanwhile, another person, Epi Saputra, is still being chased by officers.

"The pursuit effort is still ongoing. We will convey the progress immediately," said Anom.

He explained that the incident of the escaped convict occurred at around 01.50 WIB. At that time, officers heard suspicious sounds on the tin roof, then checked the source of the sound and checked the surveillance camera (CCTV) footage.

From the recording, it can be seen that a prisoner jumped from the roof of the prison. Officers who moved quickly managed to secure two people, while one other prisoner managed to escape into the forest around the detention center.

Based on the results of the initial examination, the escape was pre-planned. The inmates are known to have damaged the hinge of the cell door using a Gerinda fault found above the ventilation of the room.

The riots were carried out little by little during the week in a cell containing eight inmates, but only three people fled, Anom explained. All three are known to be death row convicts of narcotics cases.

Meanwhile, an officer of the Siak Detention Center, Edi, said that one prisoner who was still at large was last seen wearing a black shirt and shorts, with a thin and small posture.

"We are still in the field with the police to look for escaped prisoners. Please pray that they will be caught soon," said Edi.
