Badanas: GPM In Kupang Distributes Three Tons Of SPHP Rice For The Community

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) noted that as many as three tons of rice for the Stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) have been distributed in the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) in Batuplat Village, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara.

"We do GPM in order to maintain prices and food stocks in the community. The main icon is SPHP rice, which is rice subsidized by the central government, which at this moment is sold cheaper than market prices," said Muhammad Solehudin Zaenal, an official from the Directorate of Stabilization of Supply and Food Prices. Bapanas in Kupang, Thursday.

He said the SPHP rice initially provided by Perum Bulog as much as two tons had been sold, so one more ton was added because the residents continued to arrive.

"GPM is the way the government is present in the community by bringing in distributors, farmer groups (gapoktan), and Bulog to provide cheap food well below market prices," he explained.

Solehudin added, Badanas has held 820 GPM activities throughout the country for 1-15 October 2025. Furthermore, there will be two GPM points in NTT in November.

Meanwhile, the Technical Implementation of the Policy Researcher of the NTT Province Agriculture and Food Security Office, Diah Iswandari, said the GPM presented 15 local distributors to meet people's food needs.

"Through GPM, we want to bring the market closer so that people don't have to go all the way to shop, but just come to the location of this activity," he said.

He added that now the harvest period has been completed and rice prices in the market are starting to rise. Therefore, the existence of this SPHP rice is expected to help maintain the availability of staple food for the community.

"Our hope is that people come and shop to meet basic food needs in their respective households, so that food security is maintained," he said.
