JAKARTA - The Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) and the Australian military have strengthened cooperation in cyber defense and disaster management in military operations other than war (OMSP).

This collaboration was established when the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met with the Commander of the Australian Army, namely the Chief of the Defense Force Australia Admiral David Jhonston at the Ministry of Defense office, Central Jakarta, Friday, October 17.

"We plan to open cyber training, including how to carry out activities in the context of human neutral assistance disaster relief, in the context of OMSP which has so far been carried out," said Head of the Defense Information Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Frega Wenas Inkiriwang, as quoted by Antara.

According to Frega, cyber defense is one of the defense pieces that must be strengthened to ward off cyber attacks in the form of information and hacking that threatens the government.

Therefore, he considered this cooperation very important to strengthen Indonesia's defense in the face of cyber attacks.

Regarding OMSP's handling exercises, Frega ensured that joint exercises with the Australian military in the field of disaster management would continue.

"Earlier, there was also an opportunity to explore exercises in Eastern Indonesia, as previously stated by the Minister of Defense Sjafrie that in Eastern Indonesia waters it would later be used for joint training," said Frega.

With this variety of joint training agendas, it is hoped that military relations between Indonesia and Australia will continue to be harmoniously established.

Not only relations between the military, Frega also hopes that this cooperation will strengthen bilateral relations between the governments of Indonesia and Australia
