JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) Asep Kuswanto said the Rorotan Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) is targeted to start operating in November 2025.
He explained that the RDF Rorotan trial had been going on since October 1 until now. The trial was carried out by processing household waste in stages, starting from 30 tons, 100 tons, to 200 tons.
"The RDF trial will continue until the end of October 2025, and starting November 2025, DLH plans Rorotan RDF to be ready to operate," Asep said in his statement, Friday, October 17.
He said that on October 3, 2025, DKI DLH had also invited representatives of the community around RDF Rorotan, namely from the Rorotan Village area, East Cakung Village, Ujung Menteng Village, Pusaka Rakyat Bekasi Village, to Harapan Indah Bekasi to see firsthand the addition of equipment to improve emissions control and the echo that had been installed.
They are also invited to review the waste processing process, as well as witness visually the quality of emissions or smoke that have gone through emission control tools (Flue Gas Treatment).
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said that currently the waste processing system has become fuel or the Rorotan RDF has started to commission on a small scale.
"We have actually started commissioning now. But the scale is not yet large. The scale is between 100 and 200 tons," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday (10/10).
He revealed that until today, the commissioning at RDF Rorotan was going well, and the process was also witnessed directly by the local community.
Previously, Asep had targeted Rorotan RDF to officially operate on September 24, 2025. However, at that time the operation of the Rorotan RDF was still rejected by local residents.
