South Korea Wants 3 Cambodian Regions To Be Prone To TIPs, Reflecting On The Death Of Its Citizens Kidnapped

JAKARTA - South Korea (South Korea) issued a travel ban for its citizens to Cambodia on Wednesday 15 October. This prohibition follows the kidnapping case that led to the murder of a South Korean student in Cambodia.

This policy was followed by a special South Korean team to investigate the death case on Wednesday night.

The team will also discuss cases of criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO) mode of labor fraud where many victims are experienced by South Koreans.

The Bokor Mountains area in Kampot Province, Bavet City, and Poipet City [in Cambodia] was designated a travel ban zone, "Said the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement, Wednesday, October 15, quoted from AFP.

South Korean citizens visiting or living in the region may be subject to sanctions. Therefore, citizens planning to travel to the region are strongly advised to cancel their trip," the statement continued.

Previously, South Korea announced that around 1,000 of its citizens were believed to be working on fraud syndicates in Cambodia.

"It is estimated that around 200,000 people from various countries work in the Cambodian fraud industry, which targets victims worldwide, including in South Korea," South Korean National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac told reporters.
