War Against Online Gambling, Kemkomdigi-OJK Blocks 23,929 Accounts Cut Illegal Fund Flows

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) blocks 23,929 accounts used for online gambling transactions or online gambling.

Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid said this step was part of the government's commitment to eradicate online gambling practices that harm the community.

"We want to ensure that the flow of funds from illegal activities such as online gambling is completely cut off," Meutya said in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, October 14.

The accounts were blocked based on the results of cyber patrols and public reports received by the Ministry of Communication and Trade.

This step is a form of collaboration across ministries and institutions in cutting the financial transaction path between the community and the manager of online gambling sites.

Meutya also invited the public to actively participate in reporting websites, accounts, and accounts indicated to be used for online gambling activities through the government's official complaint channel.

"We invite the public to continue to report suspicious sites, accounts, or activities," he said.

The Ministry of Communication and Industry provides a number of reporting channels, including complaint content.id to complain about content containing online gambling and checking.id to report the accounts used in the transaction.

Director General of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Communication and Trade Alexander Sabar added that his party had handled 2.1 million online gambling content from October 20, 2024 to September 16, 2025.

"Since October 20 last year until yesterday, September 16, we have removed more than 2.8 million negative content from Indonesia's digital space, with 2.1 million of them in the form of gambling content," said Alexander.
