Jakarta Ranks 18th The World's Happyest City, This Is What Pramono Anung Said

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the results of a survey by Time Out magazine which put Jakarta in 18th place out of the 20 happiest cities in the world. He claims that the current policy of the DKI Provincial Government is indeed directed to create a safe, comfortable city, and make its citizens live happily.

"I really want Jakarta to be a safe, comfortable, and happy city. I don't know, maybe the Time Out survey person knows that the governor likes to be happy, so that's the result," said Pramono in North Kebayoran Lama, Monday, October 13.

Jakarta was previously faced with a tense situation when the wave of demonstrations at the end of August and early September ended in chaos. A number of public facilities were damaged by anarchistism.

However, Pramono believes that the condition of the capital city is now back to normal. He assessed that residents returned to enjoying activities in public spaces without fear.

"Even though yesterday we had a disaster, togetherness was the key word. Alhamdulillah, now almost all people's lives are running normally," he said.

He also gave an example of increasing citizen participation in sports and recreational activities in open spaces.

"Two consecutive weeks I join car free day. Now almost every week there are marathon activities, half marathons, five kilometers, ten kilometers, and that is continuous. This shows that Jakarta residents really want to live happily," he said.

The Time Out survey involved more than 18,000 people from various cities in the world.

Respondents were asked to assess their level of happiness based on a number of factors, such as culture, nightlife, culinary, easy walking, and quality of life in general.

In addition, they were also asked whether they were happy to live in their respective cities, whether local residents looked happy, and whether the city felt happier from time to time.
