JAKARTA - The automotive market in the country is getting more excited thanks to the presence of the latest model from BAIC Indonesia. The model in question is T1, a futuristic electric car.

COO of PT JIO Distribution Indonesia, Dhani Yahya, said the launch of the BAIC T1 was the beginning of the company's long-term commitment to continue to bring innovation, build a complete portfolio of new energy vehicles (NEV).

"Of course we provide relevant mobility solutions for the Indonesian people," he said, in an official statement received, Friday, July 10.

The pre-booking period has been opened with an estimated price range of Rp. 300 million. The certainty regarding the official price tag will only be revealed at the upcoming GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 automotive exhibition.

In terms of specifications, this car is equipped with a 42.3 kWh battery, this car can drive as far as 425 kilometers for a full charge based on CLTC calculations. This car is also supported by fast charging technology that can recharge the battery from 30 to 80 percent in just 25 minutes.

BAIC T1 also has Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) Charging features, which allow vehicles to share power with other electric vehicles when needed. In addition, there is a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature with a capacity of up to 3,500 watts, which allows vehicles to function as a portable power source to operate various electronic devices.

In terms of safety, this car is equipped with various modern driving assistance features that support driving comfort and safety, including the presence of 12 types of ADAS.

As a first step, this car will be marketed through a scheme for importing complete cars before it will be produced locally with a target of local content levels of up to 60 percent next year. BAIC targets sales of this car to reach 1,000 units by the end of this year.
