Palestinian TikTok Creator Is A Suspect

MATARAM - West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) Cyber Crime investigators confiscated the TikTok social media account @ucokbangcok belonging to the suspect with the initials UC (23) who uploaded video content allegedly containing insults against Palestine.

"We have confiscated the TikTok account in question and are now under the control of investigators. Including the Facebook account," said Head of Subdit V Cyber Crime of the NTB Regional Police, AKP Priyo Suhartono, in Mataram quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 18.

In his personal TikTok account, UC, who is now a suspect on suspicion of violating Article 45A paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph 2 of Indonesian Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) is said to have also uploaded the apology video content.

"He realized that his actions were wrong, and finally he made an apology clarification on TikTok," he also said.

However, in the video content of his apology, said Priyo in a press conference accompanied by the Head of Public Relations of the NTB Regional Police, Kombes Artanto, the UC suspect again shouted insults.

"In the video, he mentioned insults against Israel," he said.

In this regard, according to Priyo, investigators believed that UC's actions met a criminal element.

"So that from the results of the case title, UC was named a suspect and served detention at the NTB Police Detention Center," he also said.

Head of Public Relations of the NTB Regional Police, Kombes Artanto, reminded the public, especially social media users, to be wiser and smarter in responding to issues or news in cyberspace.

"Remember, now, your finger is your tiger, so let us understand how to use social media wisely and make better use of it," said Artanto.
