KAI Grounding Cable Thief Successfully Arrested In Cikarang

JAKARTA - A cable grounded thief (circuit track) on the Hilir Petak Jalan Line between Cikarang Station - Tambun Station was arrested by the Cikarang Station travel security officer (PKD) PT Kereta Api Indonesia Operational Area (KAI Daop) 1 Jakarta.

The perpetrator is known to have the initials IH (31), a resident of West Cikarang. The perpetrator was arrested while cutting the grounding cable at KM 42+500 downstream on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

The impact of the perpetrator's actions was a disturbance in the red signal or track system on the train signal system on the line.

KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager, Ixfan Hendriwintoko confirmed the theft of the cable.

"Officers immediately secured the perpetrators and evidence in the form of pliers and eight pieces of the grounding cable. The perpetrators were then taken to the PAM Post at Cikarang Station for further investigation," said Ixfan when confirmed, Sunday, October 12, 2025.

From the results of the examination, the perpetrator admitted that he had carried out similar actions in several other locations, such as in the area of the Tambun Station (Cibitung Station).

For this incident, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta coordinated with police officers from the West Cikarang Police, the Sintel Unit (STL), PAM Daop, and elements of the Marine BKO.

Furthermore, the perpetrators and evidence were handed over to the West Cikarang Police for further legal proceedings.

"Joot work and cross-element coordination are the keys to the disclosure of this case. We appreciate the synergy between PAM officers, Sintel, Polsuska, Marines, and the police who are moving quickly to follow up on reports in the field," he said.

Ixfan added that the theft of train facilities and infrastructure was very dangerous for the safety of train travel.

Components such as grounded cables are vital parts of the signal system that functions to maintain the safety of train travel.

"KAI urges the public not to take actions that can interfere with the safety of train travel. If you see suspicious activity around the train line, immediately report it to the nearest station officer or through the official KAI channel," he said.
