Sunday Tomorrow, Thousands Of Residents Are Ready To Crowd Monas In The Palestinian Solidarity Action

JAKARTA In the midst of an Israeli attack that continues to attack the Gaza region, a wave of solidarity from the Indonesian people is getting stronger. Thousands of residents are expected to take to the streets in the Palestinian Solidarity Action which will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 06.00 a.m. local time, centered on the Horse Statue, Monas, Central Jakarta.

One of the initiatives that stole attention came from young people who initiated a movement titled Semangka Ant. Initiated by the Zakat Forum (FOZ), this movement invites young people to take part in humanitarian actions with different approaches, namely combining support for Palestine with concern for the environment.

Inspired by the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS, Semangka raised the philosophy of an ant carrying water to extinguish the fire that burned Ibrahim. Although small and visible, the action shows clear partiality.

"Semut Semangka is a symbol of the attitude that the slightest contribution can be part of major changes. We want to invite young people not to be apathy. We side with humanity," said Agus Budiyanto, Executive Director of the Zakat Forum, Friday, October 10.

In practice, Semangka participants will move during the action by bringing garbage bags and simple equipment to maintain the cleanliness of the action environment. In addition, they will also spread peace messages and call for donations to Palestinians.

"We want this action not only to be vocal in voicing humanity, but also to be behaviorally civilized. Maintaining cleanliness is part of the value of the struggle itself," added Agus.

The action at Monas is predicted to be attended by more than 100,000 participants from various elements of society, including communities, organizations, humanitarian institutions, to individuals who care about the fate of the Palestinian people.
