Tens Of Years As Officials, Pramono Promises To Retire After Lengser From The Governor Of DKI

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung promised that he would no longer be involved in politics after his term of office in Jakarta ended in 2030.

Pramono emphasized that he only wanted to serve one term as governor, before really retiring from his long career as a state official.

"I am targeting to be governor for a period. I decided, it is true that one period and stopped. I have been an official for too long, 25 years has never broken up. Add 5 years to become governor has 30 years. That's right," said Pramono at Grand Hyatt, Central Jakarta, Friday, October 10.

Pramono admitted that the decision was taken because he had felt enough with the long journey in government. He said his political career began at a young age, when he was trusted to be the Secretary of Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"When I was 35 years old, I was the secretary of Vice President Megawati at that time. At that time I could have become a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives. So I held concurrent positions, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and at the same time secretary of President Megawati, until 2004," Pramono explained.

Pramono's career then continued until he was trusted to be the Cabinet Secretary for two terms in the era of President Joko Widodo. He called the role a strategic position that regulates the running of the government.

"Then two terms became cabinet secretary. So, in the era of President Jokowi, it became the head of the cabinet class because it was the one who coordinated. Only then did I become governor," he said.

Pramono was also elected as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives four times, from 1999 to 2015. However, Pramono only underwent a career as a member of the legislature for two terms for occupying executive positions as Presidential Secretary and Cabinet Secretary.

Therefore, this senior PDIP politician assesses that he has been in the government for a long time without a break.

"I honestly have to say, actually I'm done with myself. Serving 25 years without stopping, from the age of 36 I was escorted, never stopped, I was once the leader of the DPR," he added.
