JAKARTA - A number of traders from Pramuka Market, East Jakarta visited DKI Jakarta City Hall to raise their objections to the plan to increase the price of kiosk rental after the market renovation carried out by Perumda Pasar Jaya.

The audience was facilitated by the General Chairperson of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) Gugum Ridho Putra along with representatives of the merchant association. Gugum explained that this meeting was aimed at finding common ground between traders and market managers.

"The point is that this is actually a meeting for further negotiations, negotiations related to post-renovation prices. So the Scout market wants to be renovated by Perumda (Pasar Jaya), but then the post-renovation price is set to be greater than before, which is 4 times," said Gugum at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, October 9.

According to him, traders object to the drastic increase in rental prices. "Drug traders, medical device traders there feel it is difficult if the rent increases to 4 times," he added.

He said, before meeting Pramono, his party had made various efforts, including filing a complaint with the Indonesian Ombudsman and holding several meetings with Perumda. However, the agreement has not been reached. Gugum also expressed concern about traders after receiving a third warning letter from market managers.

According to Gugum, from their meeting, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono, confirmed that he would reopen the negotiation space between traders and Perumda Pasar Jaya.

"These traders are worried that there will be evictions. But thank God the governor said he guaranteed there was no eviction," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Scout Market Traders Association, Efaldi, explained the details of the price difference before and after renovation.

Before the renovation, actually the cost is calculated per year, 5 million per year. If multiplied for 20 years it means 100 million. Then now the price is set at IDR 425 million per kiosk for 20 years," said Efaldi.

With this four-fold increase, traders submitted a new price proposal, with details of Rp250 million per kiosk on the ground floor and Rp200 million on the first floor for 20 years.
