Affirming Rejecting The Arrival Of Israeli Athletes To Jakarta, PAN Believes All Factions Of The DKI DPRD One Voice

The National Mandate Party (PAN) faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD expressed a firm stance against the presence of Israeli athletes at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastic Championship which is scheduled to take place on October 19' 25 in Jakarta.

Chairman of the PAN faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Husen, said that in the near future PAN will communicate with the leadership of the DKI DPRD and all factions to gather votes in stating the rejection of the arrival of Israeli artistic gymnastics athletes.

"PAN will garner its support from political support, both politics and morals from other factions. PAN is trying to coordinate with other factions in the DKI Jakarta DPRD to reject the arrival of Israeli athletes to Jakarta," said Husen at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Thursday, October 9.

Husen believes that all factions in the DKI Jakarta DPRD will have the same attitude. "I'm sure almost all factions will refuse. Just wait for time. If today the PAN faction (noises), tomorrow or the day after tomorrow will all join," he continued.

According to Husen, the presence of the Israeli contingent in Jakarta, even in the context of sports, cannot be separated from the moral and diplomatic dimensions. He considered that Jakarta as the capital city of the state should not be a place that ignores the suffering of the Palestinian people.

"We support international sports as an event for achievement and friendship between nations. However, we reject the participation of countries that continue to commit human rights violations and reject the resolution of world peace," he stressed.

Husen emphasized that this attitude is in line with the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia which upholds eternal peace and rejects colonialism above the world.

Therefore, Husen called for the organizing committee, local governments, and the central government to reconsider the participation of Israeli athletes in the championship.

"This is a concern for the central government, this is the authority of the central government, right. Don't let our economic condition be a bit less, it will cause new problems for our nation," said Husen.

Moreover, he continued, PAN's current attitude is in line with DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung who firmly rejects the arrival of the Israeli artistic contingent to Jakarta.

"The PAN faction strongly agrees and supports the attitude of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, who firmly rejects the presence of Israeli athletes to participate in the event," he added.

Previously, Pramono Anung stated firmly his rejection of the arrival of artistic gymnastics athletes from Israel to Jakarta during the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships or 53th World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2025.

"About Israeli athletes, if you go to Jakarta, of course as the Governor of Jakarta in this condition, I will definitely not allow it," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, October 8.
