This Is The DKI Provincial Government's Step In Facing Potential La Nina Until The End Of 2025

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has prepared a number of steps to deal with the potential for La Nina by the end of 2025 which results in high rainfall and flooding.

The Head of DKI Jakarta BPBD Isnawa Adji said that his party had prepared anticipatory steps through cross-sectoral coordination with the Water Resources Service (SDA), the Environment Agency (DLH), the Transportation Service (Dishub), and the National Police.

"This coordination is to ensure the preparedness of all elements in dealing with the potential for increasing rainfall due to the La Nina phenomenon," said Isnawa in his statement, Thursday, October 9.

BPBD also strengthens the early warning system and ensures that disaster preparedness posts in all city administrative areas function optimally. Routine checks on water pumps, reservoirs, and floodgates continue to be carried out to ensure the readiness of flood management infrastructure.

Isnawa appealed to the public to remain vigilant and actively monitor weather information through the official channels of BMKG and BPBD DKI Jakarta. According to him, community involvement in preparedness is very important, especially in areas prone to inundation.

"Early mitigation is the key in dealing with the potential for La Nina, considering its impact can be widespread on community activities, infrastructure, and the economic sector in Jakarta," said Isnawa.

Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that weak La Nina would come in Indonesia at the end of 2025. The condition of La Nina can contribute to increasing rainfall in a number of areas in Indonesia.

A total of 333 ZOM (47.6 percent) in Indonesia is predicted to enter the rainy season from September to November 2025. Parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan have entered the rainy season before September 2025.

Furthermore, the rainy season will gradually expand to the south and east, with most areas predicted to start experiencing the rainy season in September, October, and November 2025.

The peak of the 2025/2026 rainy season is predicted to occur mostly from November to December 2025 in western Indonesia. And from January to February 2026 in southern and eastern Indonesia.
