Malaysia Condolences For The Collapse Of Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School

JAKARTA - The Malaysian government through its embassy in Jakarta expressed its condolences for the tragedy of the collapse of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building in Sidoarjo, East Java, which killed dozens of students.

"We express our condolences for the tragedy at the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School which has sacrificed 67 lives," said Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Dato' Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin when he started his remarks at the Malaysian Day commemoration event, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 7.

He hoped that the spirits of the victims who fell into the incident at the Sidoarjo pesantren would receive grace from Allah SWT. The Ambassador also prayed that the families left behind would always be given patience and peace. in the face of these divine provisions.

It is known, a four-level building at the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Buduran, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, collapsed on September 29 during renovations. At the time of the incident, hundreds of students were performing congregational prayers below it, so they were trapped under the rubble.

SAR operations for victims of the collapse of the building have been carried out intensively since the first day of the incident involving hundreds of personnel from various elements, including the National SAR Agency (Basarnas), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), TNI, Polri, volunteers, and other elements.

Head of Basarnas Marshal TNI Mohammad Syafii in Sidoarjo, Tuesday, said that out of a total of 171 victims, 104 people were declared safe, while 67 others were reported to have died.

"Of the 67 victims who were declared dead, eight of them were incomplete parts of the victim's body," he added.

With the discovery of all victims from the location of the ruins, the entire series of search and rescue missions was declared complete by Basarnas after the operation lasted for nine days.

Meanwhile, Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi on Sunday (5/10) stated that the collapse of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building had become President Prabowo's special attention.

"He continues to monitor it, that's why he then ordered the relevant ministers, and the governor, deputy governor, to pay attention," he said.

"President Prabowo has also ordered the evaluation of all Islamic boarding schools, especially in terms of security and safety," he said.
