Police Arrest Jukir After Viral Parking Getok Rp30 Thousand At Balonggede Restaurant Bandung

JAKARTA - The Bandung City Police arrested a illegal parking attendant (jukir) with the initials SS who set a tariff of IDR 30 thousand for a car to tourists while on vacation in the Balonggede area, Bandung City, which went viral on social media.

The Head of the Regol Police, Kompol Heri Suryadi, said the case started with reports of victims who felt aggrieved by the perpetrators who set inappropriate parking rates.

"We have secured a parking attendant who asked for parking money of Rp. 30,000 which went viral in Tiktok's video," said Heri in Bandung, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

Heri explained that the incident began when the victim on Monday, October 6 visited Mrs. Imas' Restaurant in the Balonggede area. Then the victim's vehicle was directed by the illegal parking attendant on the side of Jalan Kautamaran Istri.

When the victim was about to go home, the perpetrator took action by asking for parking money by handing a receipt of Rp. 30,000 to the driver of the car.

"However, the passenger from the car objected, while recording using his cellphone and the person gave Rp. 30,000. Then the car was allowed to continue the journey," he said.

Furthermore, Heri said that after receiving reports of illegal levies from victims, his party then looked for the whereabouts of the perpetrators for questioning regarding the incident.

From the results of the investigation, it is known that the area is a licensed parking lot under the management of an official parking attendant from the Bandung City Transportation Service.

However, in this incident, the perpetrator allegedly took advantage of the situation when the official parking attendant was not on duty in the parking area by making illegal parking fees at inappropriate rates.

According to him, parking rates in Bandung City have been regulated in Mayor Regulation Number 66 of 2021, which is IDR 5 thousand per hour for cars and IDR 3 thousand per hour for motorbikes.

For this incident, the Bandung Police together with the Bandung City Transportation Service will continue to disseminate information to the official parking attendant so that they do not assign their duties to illegal parking attendants so that similar incidents do not happen again.
